I just thought I'd check in here because it's been quite awhile since I've shown my face. There's no real reason for the absence except for the fact that I haven't had anything of interest to talk about. And I've been using all my free time to work on the new novel I've been writing. I'm really excited about it, even if it goes nowhere except my own living room. I'm having a great time writing it. So much so, that I have barely even been online in several months. So I apologize that I haven't made any comments to anyone either, because I simply haven't been around to read anything. So if something really major happened to you, and I said nothing, I wasn't ignoring you. I just didn't know :s I've been trying to skim around and check in at least once a week, but when you get that far behind, you'll never catch up...lol But I just figured I'd say hi and let everyone know I still exist out there somewhere. I hope that everyone has been well, and if there is any big news, please share it here :) Help me get back into the loop again. Okay, that is all. I have nothing else to say really. :p Current Mood: busy

So my b-day was Friday...it was un-eventful. Which is actually nice, because last year it was the worst day of my life. I was okay that nothing happened. Although I do miss when b-day's were actually fun events to look forward to. Now it's just another day and you happen to be a year older. 31 is suddenly sounding too old to me. I don't feel 31...I don't look it either. Thankfully. I still get carded for cigarettes all the time. And a few weeks ago some strange lady at a restaurant asked me if my 7 year old son was my brother. I told her that no, he was my son, and she said it was impossible. Told me that I looked 16. Now that was stretching it (but she was actually very insistent) to the point I finally got creeped out by her and moved across the room. But the point is, I still look young. That's something anyway... In other news, I'm writing a new story. For what, you ask? No reason. Just because I like to write and this story is in my head begging to be written. It's very different than anything I've ever written before. There are no monsters or vampires. It's a comedy/romance. But the difference with this story is that I've written in journal style. It is the story of a couple, who manage to get together despite some funny (and not so funny) obstacles. But they both tell the story, in their journals, from their viewpoints. I dunno...I really like the idea and have never actually written anything in first person before (fiction wise). I mean, I write in first person here all the time. It's not as if I say, "Shoshanna had a good day today. She ate cake and went shopping." But to write an entire story like that is different. But I actually like it alot. And the people in my story are 'real' people. They talk about Buffy and movies and other tv shows and compare their life to them. Because frankly, that's what people do. I read LJ and know for a fact most of you on my f-list can make a parallel in your life to something that happened on Buffy. I know I do...lol So that's who these people are. They are silly and a little dorky (like all of us) and I'm hoping that maybe someone might be interested in reading this story when it's done. It makes me happy to write it but I admit that I want other people to enjoy it too. Current Mood: good

Thanks to you guys who helped me identify that episode I was looking for earlier! :D Even though I consider myself a really huge Buffy fan, I admit I was not that enamoured of season 7 (which is why I have trouble figuring out where stuff comes from...lol) But I've decided that I'd like to give season 7 another chance. I bought the DVD's when they first came out, even though I didn't like the season, because Target had it on sale for $17! For the whole set! Yikes! I HAD to buy it. But I've yet to actually watch any of it...So today I watched First Date (since that was the one I was looking for..lol)& Storyteller, but I'd like to know what, if any, episodes of season 7 you guys liked. I suppose I could watch the whole thing, but I'm kind of just in the mood to watch the best ones. Problem is, aside from Chosen and Storyteller, I don't really remember anything about most of the episodes...(yes, I know, spank me for being a bad Buffy fan!) Recommendations are greatly appreciated! Help me out :) And as a side note, was I the only one who didn't like season 7? Just curious... Current Mood: geeky Current Music: Killers--Mr. Brightside

There is this really cool, haunting song that I discovered several years ago. It's called She Took My Soul In Istanbul by Marc Almond (he was the lead singer of the band Soft Cell) I first heard it about two weeks after the Buffy episode Fool For Love aired, and when I heard it, I immediately thought the song fit Spike's story almost perfectly. I must have listened to the song a thousand times, always envisioning Spike meeting Drusilla and becoming a vampire. I'm sure the song is not about a vampire, although I really feel the imagery fits very well, at least in my own head. After the other episode of Buffy aired that dealt with Spike's mother, this song took on more meaning, because the song mentions a mother and hearing her singing to him at night. Maybe no one else will see the Spike-ness to the song, but I'm someone who could find a Buffy/Spike connection in almost every song I ever heard...lol Anyway, I wanted to share the song with everyone because I think it's a really cool song. Very haunting, a little creepy, but very cool. ( Here are the Lyrics & a download )I really hope someone out there will download this and let me know what you think! I'm very curious if I'm the only one who feels this way about the song. Current Mood: enthralled

I went to the mall today just to look around and I was at White Barn Candle Company. I was looking at the different items because I love candles, especially the yummy scented ones. Well, amongst the cinnamon and blueberry candles there was a candle offering you the rich scent of buttered mashed potatoes. Potatoes. A candle that smells like a potatoe. Who the hell would want that? I imagine it's not one of their top sellers, because yuck! What's next? A candle called 'Catch of the day' that smells like trout? Or perhaps 'Italian Restaurant' that smells like tomatoes and garlic? I mean certain things might smell good whilst cooking, like onions or BBQ but would you honestly want a candle that smelled like grilled steak or something? And who likes the smell of potatoes anyway? Usually when someone comes to your house for dinner and are like "Wow! Something smells good!" they aren't talking about your mashed potatoes. Okay, I realize this was a pointless ramble, but I was laughing so hard in the store all by myself like a crazy person that I felt the need to share the idiocy with someone else. In other news, that's not as pointless, I have a friend type dilemna... There is this chick I know and we used to be friends, then we sort of fell out of favor, then we made up, then we lost touch. Recently, I went to the store where she worked just to touch base and say Hi. She seemed thrilled to see me, and she took a break and we got coffee and chatted. She took my cell number and said she'd call me. She never did, so I stopped by again and we talked and she gave me a makeover (she's a makeup artist) and we had fun. We made plans for a girls night the next Friday. At the last minute she cancelled and said she'd call me again to reschedule. Well, that was like a month ago and I never heard from her again. So I called on Thursday and asked if she'd like to have lunch. She said she couldn't, but she'd call me. So the question is: am I being blown off? lol I seriously don't want to be the annoying girl that keeps hanging around and she's secretly wishing I'd just go away. How many times do you call someone/make plans before you just give up? Whenever we do see each other, we seem to have alot of fun and she acts like she really likes me...lol This sound so much like I'm trying to date her! But I'm not! I really just miss having friends to hang out with and I'm trying to reconnect, but I don't want to be irritating. Any advice? Do I call again if she doesn't call me? Or do I just assume she's trying to be polite and doesn't really wanna hang out with me? I'm so socially clueless, it's sad... Current Mood: nervous

I made a new layout for my journal now that I know how to play with it! Thanks to those of you who directed me to the right places to figure that out! The banner features all the guys I happen to like...I couldn't pick just one, so they are all there...lol They all have one thing in common and that's they can sing. At the moment, I'm musically obsessed so it fits my mood. Plus they can all be rather dorky at times and for some reason I really like that in a guy...lol Maybe I'm strange? Anyway, guess what else I did today? I made some Buffy icons!! I haven't made any Buffy icons in probably a year. Wow...I missed making them! I'm not done yet, so I'm not posting at the moment, but I wanted to let you guys know that they were coming! You guys still like Buffy right? lol I've been out of the fandom loop for so long I don't even know if it's still in demand. Assuming most of you guys are still into it, what sort of icons would you like to see? I made mostly Spuffy, cause that's what I'm used to, but I can feature other characters! In fact I'd like to, I just don't know what other people/couples are popular. So tell me! :) Okay, I have to go to the store now...fun times. I've done nothing at all today and it's already 3pm. I'll come back later and post the icons, and hopefully someone will have suggested some other people by then. If not, I guess I'll just wing it...lol Current Mood: lazy
